Children with HIV, tuberculosis, confined as long-term hospital patients
A special gift for a young hospital patient
South Africa is a country where believers have many opportunities to show Christian
concern and the love of Christ to the community. Local churches reach out to adults
and children in difficult circumstances.
Many of the children who are admitted to the Doris Goodwin TB Hospital are HIV positive
in addition to having tuberculosis. The children, ages one to ten, must leave their
families and stay at the hospital between two and four months. This separation is
often traumatic.
Workers pack a “welcome to the hospital” bag with personal items, toys and books
to help make the adjustment easier. $10 will buy a backpack with multiple items
in the bag.
Please help encourage a sick child with a thoughtful care package. $10 goes a long
way to brighten this difficult situation in a child’s life. Many boys and girls
are admitted to this hospital and they would each love to receive a backpack with
items just for them.
